Student Centered Programs

APP student centered programs are cohort progression initiatives focusing on preparing students for post-secondary opportunities.

Early Academic Outreach Program

The Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP) was implemented in 1976 by the University to increase the number of students who are competitively eligible for postsecondary education. EAOP focuses on five core elements to support students with meeting their educational goals: Academic Advising, Academic Enrichment, Entrance Exam Preparation, and College Knowledge.

Educational Talent Search: Sacramento, Shasta, Siskiyou

The UC Davis Educational Talent Search (ETS) programs are federally funded TRIO initiatives that seeks to assist low-income, first generation students in Sacramento, Shasta, and Siskiyou regions. The goal of these programs is to provide comprehensive services designed to foster student success in high school and prepare them for post-secondary institutions.

Upward Bound

Upward Bound is a Federal TRIO program designed to generate the skills and motivation necessary for success in post-secondary education among high school students who are potential first generation college students. The University of California, Davis Upward Bound Project has been in operation since 1968.

Upward Bound Math-Science

Upward Bound Math-Science is designed to strengthen the math and science skills of participating students. The goal of the program is to help students recognize and develop their potential to excel in math and science and to encourage them to pursue postsecondary degrees in math and science. APP will submit an application fall 2010.

Reservation for College

Reservation for College (RFC) is a unique college-preparatory program that is composed of three sets of 10 lessons based on California academic content standards for the fourth, fifth, and sixth grades. The lessons are aimed at creating an understanding of the steps necessary for college.

The message is simple: all students can go to college. RFC has been developed in collaboration with schoolteachers and administrators to transform schools into high-achieving institutions where college is the goal for all students. Most importantly, participation in the program empowers families with the belief that college is a realistic goal. Program materials are available in both English and Spanish.
